FAQ

Q: Can season passes be used?
A: No.  Passes are only for use during the days the park is open to the public.

Q: Can I leave the park early?
A: Certainly! You can come and go from the park with your ensembles as you like!

Q: I have to request my check months in advance of the competition.  What if my number of students changes?
A: If you overpay, we will refund you on the spot the day of the contest. Request your check for the maximum number possible.  Final payment is made on the day of the contest. You will be assigned a time between 11am and 1pm to check out.  No personal checks from parents, please

Q: We wear uniforms when we perform.  Wil there be a time and place to change clothes?
A:  Yes.  You may meet with your group as early as you like.  There are dressing rooms in the park for students to change. Or, they can simply throw a t-shirt over their bathing suit.  Rest assured ensembles will NOT be judged on appearance.

Q: Is my deposit refundable if we decide to cancel our trip?
A: No, but remember your deposit is credited back to your bill on the day of the contest.

Q: What happens if we have inclement weather?
A: In the event of rain, the park will remain open and running.  In the unlikely event of lightening, students will be directed to shelter for the period of time the lightening is in the area.  Safety is always the highest priority.  All performing venues are covered.  We rarely cancel a day due to weather.  The park has a sophisticated weather alert system that removes all human guesswork as to when to take shelter.

Q: When will I get detailed information about my competition date and time?
A:  You will receive a confirmation email with your performance date and time in August if you register during the summer or soon after you enter during the year.

Q: What grade levels will be attending the competition?
A: Only elementary and middle school students.  String groups that begin before the 6th grade are welcome! We encourage you to bring your beginners, 2nd groups and varsity groups.  Everyone can come!

Q: Can parents, administrators and friends come to hear our group for free?
A: Absolutely! They need to come to the park, drive around to the right side and park near the covered performance pavilion.  They can enter and exit through the spectator gate there.  There will be staff available to show them the way.  However, they are not allowed to come into the “water” part of the park without a chaperone ticket.

Q: Can our groups hear other groups?
A: I’m afraid not.  The performances are outside the main waterpark gates and there is very little room for large audiences.

Q: What time does the park open and close, and how to we all get in at one time?
A: See our home page for exact times.  We will have a check-in station for directors in the parking lot.  You will be assigned a time to check out and pay your bill.

Q:  I did not give you meal deal numbers originally, but I would like to participate.  How do I do that?
A: Send me an email with your meal deal numbers.  Don’t forget to include all of your friends/family and chaperones too.  The deadline for meal deals decisions is April 1st.

Q: When do you need my final count on meal deals?
A: There is no need to update my when you have minor changes in your numbers,  Only update me if they have changed by 20% of your original count…We’re ready for you!

Q: Can I get a refund on my unused meal deals and tickets?
A: Absolutely! We refund you that day!

Q: Are lockers available?
A: Yes, however, I recommend you simply keep your things together in one part of the park.  There are NUMEROUS meeting places you can call your home for the day, and things are generally safe there.  Remember, no one else is in the park on private days except for music students.

Q: Remind me, what’s in the meal deal?
A: Choice of hot dog or hamburger, chips, drink, and a cookie. It’s a great deal for $7!

Q: No coolers, right?
A: Right!  Sack lunches are okay, however.  Large coolers are allowed in if they only contain water.

Q: Should we all eat lunch together as a group?
A: When you check in, you will pick a window of time for your group to eat if you ordered the meal deal.  We ask that you stay as close to that time as possible to avoid longer lines.

Q: What is the best way to handle my students in the park?
A: Most directors assign chaperones to small groups to travel around in the park.  The chaperones can remind students when they need to gather for dry-off / warm up.  If you do not assign chaperones to smaller groups, the students must keep up with their warm up time.

Q: Do I need to bring an adjudication sheet with me to the contest?
A: No.  We will provide those to the judges for you.

Q: Do I need to bring music for the judges?
A: Yes.  Bring one score for the judges.  Number each measure for reference.

Q: Why do we have 1 judge?
A: .  One judge will do a brief 6-8 minute positive verbal clinic with your group immediately following your performance.

Q: Is there an awards ceremony?
A: We have eliminated the awards ceremony to maximize student fun time in the park!
